MONDAY, AUGUST 13, 2001 The Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission will meet on Thursday to try and finish redrawing the state's 30 political districts. A map being proposed would keep the Hopi Reservation and the Navajo Reservation separate. Both tribes want to be in their own district for various reasons. Minorities are in the majority in two of eight congressional districts and 10 of 30 legislative districts. After the commission completes its task, the state will hold public hearings on the map.
