Navajo Nation wants city unified

Navajo Nation officials want the New Mexico State Legislature to create one district for the city of Gallup.

Currently, Gallup is divided into two districts. The tribe is worried a new map being proposed would dilute the Native vote in Gallup.

New Mexico has five Native lawmakers. Three are in the House and two are in the Senate.
