States could lose more than $4.1 billion in federal funding if the Census Bureau doesn't adjust its population count, the Democrat members of the US Census Monitoring Board said on Monday.

While the Census 2000 was the most accurate ever, American Indians and Alaska Natives were undercounted at a higher rate than any other group in the country. The net undercount for on-reservation Indians was 4.74 percent.
