Lawmaker criticizes Coeur d'Alene Tribe

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2001 The Coeur d'Alene Tribe is a tax evading and wealthy business that doesn't need state money, a Republican lawmaker in Idaho has charged in a recent letter. State Rep. Dick Harwood, R-St. Maries, said the state was wrong to give the tribe $500,000 in grant money, especially since the tribe has made $20 million on its casino. He also said the tribe has sued the state numerous times, yet the state continues to "bend over backwards" to help the tribe. Get the Story:
