The Washington, D.C., building that houses the Senate Indian Affairs Committee and various other offices will remain shut for another two to four weeks, lawmakers and local officials said on Tuesday.

The Hart Senate building has been closed since October 17 after anthrax was found in offices of the Majority Leader and elsewhere. The Indian panel canceled all its pending hearings as a result.

Mail delivery to Congress has been slow but is expected to speed up again.
