Mont. voting rights on trial again

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2001 A dispute over the voting power of Indians in Montana was back in federal court on Monday. A federal court had concluded the state's districts didn't dilute Native voting power. But a federal appeals court overturned part of the ruling in October 2000, saying that the state's political map was incorrectly implemented. So U.S. District Judge Phillip Pro must decide whether the rights of voters on the Blackfeet and Flathead reservations were violated. Get the Story:
