A spokesperson for Secretary of Interior Gale Norton on Monday said the department will be updating its "indiantrust" web site to include an update on the department's the first consultation session over the proposed Bureau of Indian Trust Assets Management (BITAM).

Mark Pfeifle said video and text of Norton's opening remarks will be placed online sometime soon. He didn't know when a full text transcript of the December 13 meeting would be available, however, pointing to his department's Internet shutdown as a reason for delays in services.

Norton hosted the session on December 13 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Tribal leaders unanimously criticized her proposal to strip the Bureau of Indian Affairs of its trust responsibilities and hand them to a new agency.

The Interior will continue to discuss the controversial overhaul in Minneapolis on Thursday. Norton is not scheduled to attend but Assistant Secretary Neal McCaleb will be there.

The session will be held at the Doubletree Hotel Minneapolis Airport at the Mall. The hotel is located at 7901 24th Ave. South in Bloomington, Minnesota, home to the Mall of America.

The next session will then by held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on January 3, 3002. The department has not set a time or place for the meeting.
