Although there are essentially no more "talks" to speak of, freshman Congressman Rob Simmons (R-Conn.) is voicing doubts about his role in overseeing discussions between the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and three Connecticut towns.

He's asked the tribe and the towns to tell him whether they want him to continue overseeing the failed talks regarding the tribe's trust land. Two of the towns have dropped out because the tribe wouldn't agree to limit its land-into-trust applications forever.

The tribe and the town of Congdon have xaid they would continue meeting.

Meanwhile, the state of Connecticut has filed new claims on a longstanding lawsuit over 165 acres of trust land. A federal court is set to continue hearing the case.
