When Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) told reporters the reason he missed so many votes in December was due to his frustration over the lack of action, he said he went back home to Alaska to mark the holidays and ring in the New Year.

What he left out was that he made a number of other stops -- to raise money for his unopposed campaign. According to The Anchorage Daily News, which looked at campaign finance disclosures, Young raised more than $100,000 in Texas while other members of Congress were at work.

The Young re-election campaign wouldn't comment on the trip to the paper.
