FRIDAY, MARCH 22, 2002 The Seneca Nation of New York spent nearly $400,000 on a lobbying contract last year, The Buffalo News reports. The tribe paid firm $393,580 to the Washington law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss & Feld. The contract was the largest of any tribe and even outpaced giants such as IBM. The tribe, among others, has been lobbying intensely on casino and Indian issues. A major win was scored when the Legislature approved the negotiation of three gaming compacts. Get the Story:
