Ridge refuses to testify

TUESDAY, MARCH 5, 2002 Office of Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge is refusing a bipartisan request to testify before a Senate committee because the White House says he is not a Cabinet official. The chairman and ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Committee asked Ridge to testify next month on $38 billion requested for domestic security programs. But he will not appear, says the White House, because he is an adviser. Get the Story:
