After taking the lead position after the first round of play, Notah Begay III, the 27-year-old Pueblo / Navajo golfer from New Mexico, slipped one place after the second round of the Loch Lomond International in Scotland.

Begay ended the day on Thursday shooting a 71. His second round total now stands at 137, or 5-under-par, sharing second place with four other players.

First place is equally crowded, with five sharing the spotlight. Begay is just one stroke away from the group, who have a total score of 136, or 6-under-par.

Begay hopes to qualify for 129th British Open in Scotland next week. If he gets to the event, he'll face off against former Stanford University teammate and longtime rival Tiger Woods.
