SEPTEMBER 27, 2000

In an editorial today, The Seattle Post-Intelligencer champions aboriginal athlete Cathy Freeman as more than just a winner of the gold medal.

The paper praises her for being not only an outstanding athlete, but an advocate for indigenous issues.

The paper says the Olympics are a "colorblind playing field where all manner of prejudice has been tested and tossed aside."
