Powwow brings in Columbus Day

OCTOBER 10, 2000 Native American Day is celebrated every year in South Dakota and the Multi-Cultural Center in Sioux Falls holds a powwow to mark the occasion. The day was created in 1990 as part of the state's Year of Reconciliation. Then Governor George Mickelson proclaimed the year to seek reconciliation between American Indians and whites. In addition to a powwow, the center held a luncheon and mass. Get the Story:
