OCTOBER 6, 2000

Several Minnesota tribal leaders met at a rally on the Mille Lacs reservation in order to endorse Democratic candidate for President, Al Gore.

Although tribes have contributed increasing amounts of money to the Democratic party, no tribe in Minnesota ranks in the top 20 of tribes who contributed to either party, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

The Indian population in the state is about 1 percent.
