DECEMBER 5, 2000 Republican Washington Senator Slade Gorton isn't out of office yet, but The Seattle Times is already paying tribute to his long political career. (Which may not be over if you believe the rumors.) The paper endorsed Democrat Maria Cantwell in the Senate race. But in an editorial today, the paper focuses on some of his better moments, such as working with Senator Joe Lieberman (D-Conn) to come to a compromise on the impeachment of President Bill Clinton. The paper also says his talents would be welcomed back home in Washington and in the Pacific Northwest. Get the Story:
