The village takes its name from the word Tsimayo, the Tewa name for the area east of the northern New Mexico Pueblo of San Juan. The site is considered sacred by those who visit, including Cris Edwell who began the 33 mile journey from Santa Fe on foot yesterday at 3am. Source:
