State Seal GIF The Massachusetts Legislature's Administration Committee on Monday considered a bill that would re-examine the state's seal.

The bill, introduced by State Representative Byron Rushing, D-Boston, would form a commission to look at the seal. Rushing filed the bill in response to complaints from American Indians in the state who say the seal is inaccurate.

According to the Office of the Secretary of State of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the man on the shield is modeled on an American Indian from the Algonguin Nation.
