MAY 10, 2000

South Dakota Governor Bill Janklow picked apart the March 2000 US Commission on Civil Rights Report on racism in his state.

He criticized several of the reports suggestions, responding with information he believes contradicts the report.

Regarding the suggestion of a summit to dicuss racism, Janklow said he opposes the idea and wants to find solutions to Indian and non-Indian racism instead.
