EPA to begin civil rights programs

In response to discrimination cases at her agency, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Christie Whitman told a Congressional committee she is launching a number of civil rights initiatives.

Whitman said she will work to reduce the backlog of 80 discrimination cases within two years. She is bringing in the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to conduct civil rights training for supervisors and managers nationwide.
