According to a report commissioned by Building Blocks for Youth, a national minority juvenile rights advocacy group, Indian teens in South Dakota are more than three times as likely to be placed into corrections facilities than whites.

Nationally, Indian teens were two and a half times as likely as whites to be incarcerated.
