Chief Seattle's grave in Washington was vandalized which the Suquamish Tribe on Monday said the FBI was investigating.

The tribe said the attack was apparently tied to a plan to develop housing on the reservation. Scott Crowell, the tribe's acting executive director, said a newspaper article about the development was found at the site.

Chief Seattle was Suquamish and Duwamish. The Suquamish Tribe is federally recognized; the Duwamish's status is on hold at the Department of Interior.
