Vermont Abenaki Chief dies

TUESDAY, JULY 10, 2001 Homer St. Francis, a former chief of the St. Francis-Sokoki Band of Abenaki Nation of Vermont, died over the weekend at the age of 66. St. Francis was active in promoting Abenaki culture and fighting for tribal rights. The tribe is not federally recognized. Get the Story:
