MONDAY, JULY 16, 2001

More than 100 people on Sunday attended a ceremony to rededicate the grave of Chief Seattle, which was vandalized in May in what many view as a hate crime.

Vandals broke the cross which sits atop the grave, located on the Port Madison Reservation in Washington. The FBI is investigating the incident but no arrests have been made.
