JULY 26, 2000 The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is the primary subject of a private opinion poll being conducted on residents of towns surrounding the tribe's southeastern Connecticut reservation. The 15-minute telephone poll appears to attempt to determine how local residents feel about the tribe, controversies about the tribe, and political players in Connecticut. At least one area of questioning inovlves the upcoming election campaigns of the entire state's Congressional delegation. The tribe has neither confirmed nor denied they are conducting the poll. Officials from the towns of Ledyard, North Stonington, and Preston said they are not behind the poll. Get the Story:
