Choctaw walk Trail of Tears

JULY 31, 2000 Members of the Choctaw Nation from throughout the United States completed the 490-mile walk from Oklahoma to Mississippi, in honor of the the 169th anniversary of the Trail of Tears. The walk began July 1 in Oklahoma and ended in Nanih Waiya, Mississippi. A core group of six made the journey and were joined by as many as 29 Choctaw and non-Choctaw alike. Get the Story:
