JULY 6, 2000 United States Attorney General Janet Reno visited the Northern Cheyenne Nation of Montana and spoke with officials and volunteers on dealing with domestic violence. She promised to look for more founding for domestic violence programs on reservations. She also visited the Nation's Boys and Girls Club, one of the first ever on an reservation, saying she was impressed with the tribe's successes. She encouraged the tribe to put children to work in the club's print shop and to get them online. The Department of Justice has awarded the tribe a $4.1 million grant with $3.5 million for a youth detention center to be built in 2002. Get the Story:
