JULY 7, 2000 Senator Slade Gorton (R-Wash) evaded a group of protesting constituents yesterday. After meeting with insurance industry executives, a group of 70 senior citizens demanded to meet with Senator Gorton, but he had already left the office building via the stairs and an unobtrusive exit. The protesters wanted to meet with Gorton to discuss the high cost of prescription drugs. One of the protesters was quoted as saying "Where's Chicken Gorton?" Gorton has been recently targeted by the American Medical Association for blocking patient's rights legislation. Get the Story:
