TUESDAY, AUGUST 14, 2001

A Neo-Nazi group appears to be on the rise in East Anchorage, Alaska, according to a report in the Anchorage Daily News.

The group, the National Alliance, posted over 2,000 fliers in the Anchorage neighborhood Sunday evening. One flier compared a recent paint-ball attack on Alaska Natives as "childish misdeeds."

The flier contrasts the incident with the recent attack on school-age chlidren by an Alaska Native man. After the paint-ball attack, Alaska Governor Tony Knowles created the Commission on Tolerance, which is currently holding hearings statewide on racism and discrimination.

The paint-ball attack occurred before the school incident.

National Alliance members had no comment for the paper.
