AUGUST 17, 2000 A police officer in Portland, Oregon, is in a battle over the right to wear his long hair in a braid. Dave Barrios said he wears his hair in a braid because of his Mexican and Native American heritage. Police Chief Mark Kroeker said he can keep his braid as long as he wears it in a bun, for safety reasons. Barrios said he will fight to wear his hair how he wants. Get the Story:
