Editorial: Mascot fight is against racism

FRIDAY, AUGUST 31, 2001 In an editorial today, The Sioux Falls Argus Leader thanks activist Betty Ann Gross for helping eliminate racism by going after the use of Indians as mascots, logos and themes at schools in South Dakota. The paper says the schools might have gone ahead and changed their mascots. But without Gross' work, they might not have done it so quickly, said the paper. Of the 14 schools Gross targeted, all but three have gotted rid of Indian themes. Get the Story:
