SEPTEMBER 18, 2000 After a long hiatus, The New London Day has published more letters about the Pequot tribes in the state. Either they needed to fill space or no one was writing in. At any rate, here's what readers are saying... RUNNING UP A POSSE:
"Jeff 'Slow Draw' Benedict doesn't give the local towns any of his cash to help them, but he charges you, the citizen, for anything he does against tribal recognition — and laughs all the way to the bank..."
Get the Story:
Cowboys and Indians (Ruoy M. Mackin. Letters to the Editor. The New London Day 9/16) UMM, INDIANS ARE AMERICANS:
"When a tribal leader stands before us, and we know he is part African, English, Portuguese, French and maybe even part American Indian (but not required), and says he needs the casino to take care of his 'people,; who are these people he's talking about?"
