SEPTEMBER 18, 2000 Former US Attorney John Kelly, a Democrat endorsed by New Mexico's 19 Pueblos, is trailing incumbent Representative Heather Wilson, a Republican, in the race for the 1st Congressional District. An Albuquerque Journal poll of 305 likely voters showed 49 percent supporting Wilson, followed by 34 percent for Kelly. Another Journal poll found Democrat incumbent Senator Jeff Bingaman ahead of Republican Bill Richard 2 to 1. Bingaman has been endorsed by The All Indian Pueblo Council as well. Get the Story:
