SEPTEMBER 19, 2000

The Aryan Nations are seeking a new trial, saying the first which resulted in a $6.4 million judgment against them was unfair.

The white supremacists' lawyers alleges misconduct of jurors who awarded a part-Native family the judgment as the result of an attack on them in 1998.

The group's founder, Richard Butler, also is asking for an appeal. If the motion for a rehearing is granted, the appeal would be dropped.
