SEPTEMBER 29, 2000

Harper Collins will publish a paperback version of Without Reservation that will include new information, according to author Jeff Benedict.

Benedict said the new information focuses on Congress' failure to address concerns of three Connecticut towns, who have so far been unable to convince lawmakers to hold a hearing on the tribe's 1983 Mashantucket Pequot Settlement Act. The towns and the state, led by Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, also lost a lawsuit against the Department of Interior this week regarding the tribe's addition of 165 acres of land.

Benedict also said the book will go "deeper" into people within the tribe. The book, which was released in April, contains no research or interviews conducted with any tribal member.

It is not yet clear if the new book will contain first-hand information. However, Benedict last week said a tribal member has given him a membership list of the tribe.
