Talks between three Connecticut towns and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation may be over, but The Norwich Bulletin in an editorial today says Rep. Rob Simmons (R-Conn.) deserves credit for bringing the sides together.

"For now, though the towns and tribe disagree, they have negotiated face to face,' writes the paper. "That's a first step in the path to resolving their disagreement, a step for which Rob Simmons can take credit."

The towns of Ledyard, North Stonington and Preston have informed Simmons he is no longer needed to facilitate talks over land-into-trust since they are officially over. Preston, however, wants to continue discussing the issue but with a different mediator.
