Editorial: Tribal consultation important

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2002 In an editorial today, The Sioux Falls Argus Leader praises the Pipestone National Monument in Minnesota for starting a consultation process with tribes to improve its visitors center. "There's no telling where this will lead, but it clearly is the right way to proceed," the paper writes. Monument officials have already begun meeting with tribal member to discuss how to make changes. The exhibits in the visitors center are decades old and some displays items in a manner considered offensive. Get the Story:
