In an editorial today, The Spokesman Review says state Sen. Jim Risch is "no friend to economic development" in Indian Country.

The paper says Risch, who is running for lieutenant governor, has failed to act on important measures affecting tribes and Native Americans. "The inaction by the Senate committee, which is stocked with GOP leaders, indicates Risch puts politics before public good and isn't ready for statewide office," the paper writes.

The paper says Risch missed the boat on Indian gaming and a ban of "squaw" from public place names.
