Couple claims marriage by Native man

The Nevada Supreme Court on Thursday annulled the marriage of a 15-year-old girl to a 48-year-old man.

Sauren Crow, now 48, married SierraDawn Kirkpatrick Crow, now 16, during a Las Vegas ceremony last year. The state allows minors to get married with the consent of a parent -- in this case, SierraDawn's mother.

But the court said the father's rights were violated and said the marriage is not legal. The Goth-happy couple, who run a juice bar in Taos, New Mexico, doesn't seem to care much anyway since they now claim to have been wedded by Howard Bad Hand (see picture, from http://www.dmns.org/honoring/honor_exhibit.html.)

A marriage certificate saying Bad Hand conducted a Native ceremony was filed in New Mexico yesterday. Bad Hand was identified as a Lakota Sun Dance/Spiritual Leader.

Bad Hand is from the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota, according to the Denver Museum of Science web page. He now allegedly resides in Taos.
