Reservations get cheap cell phones

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2001 Residents on four Arizona and New Mexico are getting free cell phones and $1-a-month cell phone service, thanks to the Nokia company. Nokia is donating 30,000 cellphones worth $2.3 million to residents of the Fort Apache and Hopi reservations in Arizona, the Zuni Reservation in New Mexico and parts of the Navajo Reservation in Arizona and New Mexico. The service will cost $1 each month for 25 months, after which a price change is expected. Get the Story:
