THURSDAY, MAY 9, 2002

The Nevada Gaming Control Board is delaying a vote to allow shareholders of an Alaska Native corporation to take in profits from a casino.

Cook Inlet Region Inc. is a partner in a Ritz-Carlton casino under construction. The corporation wants to distribute profits to 7,000 shareholders.

Under federal law, each has to be treated equally. But Nevada rules would exclude any who have a criminal past or are incarcerated.

The corporation has asked the board for a waiver.
