Grace Glueck of The New York Times reviews an exhibit of Iroquois beadwork from historic times to the present, noting the fashion sense and function of tribal craft.

The exhibit, "Across Borders: Beadwork in Iroquois Life," is on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in downtown Manhattan. The museum is blocks away from the World Trade Center site.

The building wasn't harmed during the disaster.

The exhibit features more than 300 pieces culled from Iroquois beadworkers in New York and Canada. It was organized by several museums in collaboration with tribal members.

The exhibit runs through May 19.
