WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 16, 2002 A tire recycler wants to open a plant on the Gila River Indian Reservation in Arizona, which has had tire problems in the past. In 1991, a recycler abandoned more than 1 million tires on the reservation. In 1997, a fire broke out on a facility with 3 million tires and burned for more than a year. The tribe is negotiating a three-year least with American Rubber Inc., according to the manager of a industrial park on tribal land. Get the Story:
