Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.) on Tuesday said more than 30 Democrats are prepared to sustain the state of Nevada's veto of the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste site.

But Gov. Kenny Guinn (R) needs at least 51 to kill the project. Beyond Republican Sen. John Ensign, only a couple of GOPs have indicated they would side with Nevada.

The Republican-controlled House is set to accept President Bush's designation of the site. If the Senate stalls or rejects it, the project won't move forward.
