Woman a first for Native organization

Marie Dementoff has become the first women elected to a leadership position for an Alaska Native service organization.

Dementoff is the second chief of Denakkanaaga, which provides services for Native elders from 42 villages. As a retired drug and alcohol counselor, her expertise lies in social issues.
