Original Pequot map still lost

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2002

The state of Connecticut has again asked its Congressional delegation for help in locating the map used to settle the land claims of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.

Under the federal law which settled the claims and extended recognition to the tribe, the original is to be filed with the state secretary. No such original has been found although numerous copies exist.

Some feel the map will show the reservation boundaries were drawn incorrectly.
