Nebraska State Sen. Chris Beutler of Lincoln has introduced a bill to legalize casino gaming on and off reservations in the state.

The bill would put an amendment on the November 2002 ballot to allow expanded gaming for the state's tribes. In addition to allowing casinos on reservations, the amendment would establish "interdiction gaming zones" where tribes could open facilities.

The zones are two-mile strips of land in Nebraska adjacent to any state which doesn't prohibit casino gaming. Of the six states that border Nebraska, only Wyoming would appear to fail the test.
