The fiscal year 2003 budget for the state of Connecticut doubles the money five communities get from a casino impact fund.

Preston, Ledyard, Montville, North Stonington and Norwich will each get $500,000 from the Mohegan-Pequot Fund. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the Mohegan Tribe contribute 25 percent of slot revenues to the fund.

Although these towns are getting more casino funds, The Norwich Bulletin says they are losing money in other areas under Gov. John Rowland's budget, which was released yesterday.
