FRIDAY, APRIL 5, 2002 The Rhode Island House on Thursday delayed a vote on a casino study the Narragansett Tribe has characterized as a waste of time. The tribe opposes the study because it would hinder its attempt to put a casino on the November ballot. By law, state voters must approve an expansion of gaming facilities. The vote is set for next Wednesday. The study was proposed by House Finance Committee Gordon Fox. In somewhat related news, The Providence Journal today uncovers a somewhat lucrative deal Joseph DeLorenzo arranged for some friends before he was ousted as the chief of staff to Rhode Island's secretary of state. DeLorenzo signed contracts to help others make money off a nationwide secretaries of state conference to be held i Rhode Island this summer. Get the Story:
