Arthur Andersen is near entering a guilty plea for destroying documents related to the fall of Enron, The New York Times reports today.

Andersen and the federal government have come to a tentative agreement on criminal and civil charges. The Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission are involved in settlement discussions.

Former Andersen partner David Duncan pleaded guilty this week to one count of obstruction of justice for his role in shredding Enron documents.
